Musa is pictured above during the 3,000m steeplechase at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
He finished just outside the medals in fourth place behind the formidable Kenyan trio of
Ezekiel Kemboi, Brimin Kipruto and Paul Kipsiele Koech. His time of 8: 07.18 was a new PB.
He was born Moses Kipkirui, but represented Qatar after changing nationality from his
his country of birth Kenya. He was also known as Musa Amer Obaid.

In 2006 Musa Amer was found guilty of testosterone doping. The sample was delivered on 14 June 2006
in an IAAF out-of-competition test in Ifrane, Morocco.
He received an IAAF suspension from September 2006 to September 2008.
