Nadzeya Ostapchuk "won" the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games

only to lose it following a drug test. It was not the first medal she lost following

drug use and in March 2013 Ostapchuk was stripped of her 2005 World Championship

title after samples from the 2005 event were retested by the IAAF.

In 2014 IAAF announced that she was sanctioned to four years ineligibility, ending 14 August 2016

and that her results from 13 August 2005 to 12 August 2007 and since 5 August 2012 were annulled.

Like all Russian athletes she was banned from competing at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
