Issac had to run a solo time trial to qualify for the semi finals, which he covered

in 20.20 seconds, after his was 'banned' from the heats because he was suffering from norovirus.

He was unwell but did not have the virus. After his solo run he did several press-ups to indicate

he was far from unwell !

And then that evening ran his semi final in which he finished second !  Covid had yet to arrive.

On July 14th. 2017, Isaac Makwala became the first man in history to run a 200m under 20 seconds

and a sub 44 seconds 400 metres on the same day. He clocked 43.92 in the 400m and then 19.77,

in the 200m, 2 hours and 20 minutes later, at the Meeting de Atletismo Madrid.
