Jan Zelezny made a surpise return to action following his
'retirement' after the 2004 Olympic Games in an attempt to win the only
title, the European Championships, that had eluded him in his long and
illustrious career. Zelezny, by now 40 years of age, rolled back the
years with a magnificent effort of 85.92m with his first throw in the
final to win the bronze medal. Not the medal that Zelezny had dreamed of
but a truly remarkable performance nevertheless. The main photo above
shows Jan showing off his medal whilst the action picture is during the
final itself. |
