Marileidy Paulino, the 2023 World champion, wins the women's 400 metres

at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. In Tokyo at the 2020 (2021) Olympic

Games she won the silver medal with a National record of 48.7.  In Paris her winning

time was an Olympic and South Amarican record of 48.17. She beat Marie-José Pérec (FRA)

48.25 record set in Atlanta, United States on 29th July 1996.
