Jurgen STRAUB - East Germany - 1980 Olympics Games 1500m silver medal

A happy Jürgen is pictured above with British middle distance legends Seb Coe and Steve Ovett

during the 1500m medal presentation at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. Straub produced a fine

performance to take the silver medal behind Coe, forcing pre-race favourite Ovett

into the bronze medal position.

Straub set his personal best over 1500 m in Potsdam in 1979 with a time of 3:33.68 min.
