Matti is pictured above during the final of the mens Pole Vault at
the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg. He was one of four
competitors to clear 5.65m - Tim Lobinger, Romain Mesnil and Przemyslaw
Czerwinski were the others - but disappointingly missed out on a medal
on the countback rule. Lobinger and Mesnil were both awarded silver
medals with the gold going to defending champion Alex Averbukh. Mononen
was placed fourth and Czerwinski fifth. |
