Renaud Lavillenie with the French flag across his shoulders considers his if he will
win the European title ever again. Victories in 2010, 2012 & 2014 followed by a no mark
in 2016, perhaps signaled the start of a new generation of European Champions.
During the final he failed at 5.80m twice then saved his third attempt for 5.85m
cleared 5.90 first time but then faulted thereafter. And yet his 5.95m was a season best.
