A delighted Francisco is pictured above crossing the line to win gold in the men's
20km Walk at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg. His time of 1: 19.09
saw him finish a comfortable 51 seconds ahead of the silver medal winner,
Russia's Valeriy Borchin, with Portugal's Joao Vieira taking the bronze.
Francisco's victory meant he retained the title that he had won four years previously in Munich.
