Brigitte Kraus is pictured above (2nd right, slightly obscured by leader Mary Decker) during the final
of the 3,000m at the inaugural World Championships in 1983. It proved to be the greatest moment
of Brigitte's career as she won the silver medal behind Decker, pipping Tatyana Kazankina
by just two hundredths of a second. It was her fastest ever 3,000m.
However, her indoor career did produce Gold medals.
In 1976, 1983 and 1984 she won Eyropean titles at 1500m and 3000m. In 1985, 1987 and 1988
she won bronze medals at the European Indoor Championships.
