Franka DIETZSCH - Germany - 2007 World Championships Discus Gold Medal.

Franka Dietzsch is pictured above during the final of the womens Discus at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka. Dietzsch won the gold medal with a throw of 66.61m, thus becoming a three time World Champion having also struck gold at the 1999 and 2005 Worlds. Franka has taken a particular liking to the colour gold during her career - her other two medals at major championships being the golds she won at the 1998 & 2006 Euro Champs.

Dietzch launched the Discus 66.61m with her very first throw of the final and that would prove to be the winning distance. She later commented: "This is crazy since it is my third world title. I was the second oldest in the field and beat all the young girls once again. My coach told me to do it as I did in Helsinki in 2005. I had a very good first throw there as well and won - so that is what I did again."
