The main photo above shows Dave during the Javelin final at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Ottley produced a fine performance to win the silver medal with a throw of 85.74m and can be seen

proudly showing off his medal in the inset picture. Two years later Dave won his second and last

medal at a major championship when victorious at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh.
