Lawrence Okoye preparing to throw during his appearance at

with his opening throw of 61.71m. Indeed that was his only
measured throw ! He won the same title in 2012 (63.46m).
His then British record of 68.24m was set at the Hallesche Werfertage meeting
in May 2012. He competed at the 2012 Olympic Games but then spent seven years
in the U.S. attempting to make a career in American Football.
