Kelly is pictured above during the 200m, High Jump, 100m Hurdles and Long Jump disciplines
of the Heptathlon at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Two of those events - the Hurdles and
the 200m - saw Sotherton record new personal bests but she was unable to reach the medal
positions despite posting a further PB in the 800m. It was the Javelin that again proved to be
Kelly's downfall, her effort of 37.66m garnering only 622 points. In 2017 Kelly was
awarded the bronze medal after drugs were found in the blood samples given by Tatiana Chernova
In 2016 after two teams were disqualified for drugs (Russia and Belarus) GB was awarded
the 2008 Olympic Games bronze medal. The GB quartet was Christine Ohuruogu, Kelly Sotherton,
Marilyn Okoro and Nicola Sanders
