In March of 1984 Sue won the European Indoor Championship with a leap of 6.70m
from Eva Murková (CZE) 6.55m and Stefania Lazzaroni (ITA) 6.08m.

Sue's jump of 6.40m (exactly 21 feet) in the 1978 Commonwealth Games was a UK Junior record.
A graduate of Loughborough University, she subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
Her mother, Muriel Pletts, had competed in the first post-war Summer Olympic Games in London in 1948,
finishing fourth as part of the British women's 4 x 100 metre relay team
