in the men's 400m at the 2007 European Indoor

Athletics Championships in Birmingham. The inset photo

shows the ecstatic Irishman savouring the moment of victory.

Gillick's time of 45.52secs was a new indoor national record.


Two years earlier, in Madrid, David also won the event in a

time of 46.30 seconds - the first Irish Sprint Gold in 73 Years.
