Roje STONA - Jamaica - Discus gold medal at 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Rojé Stona might have hoped for a medal at the 2024 Olympic Games

having throw a personal best of 69.05m in April, but probaly never imaged

he would win the Gold. He failed to pass he 66m distance in qualifying,

as indeed did eight others who made the final. And with 70m plus men

Kristjan Čeh and Mykplas Aleknato face two days later perhaps the bronze.

After three throws he was placed 7th. World record holder Alekna was leading with

69.97m and set to follow his father an Olympic Champion in the event. But then

Rojé wings his fourth throw bang on the 70 metres mark !  Whoops.

That is an Olympic record, beating Virgilijus Alekna's 20-year record

of 69.89m set in Athens 2004. The throw had won Stona the Gold.
