Paul Tergat just fails to beat Haile Gebrselassie at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
It was his last major track race in the event, in which he won four silver medals.
Tergat broke Gebrselassie's 10,000m world record on 22 August 1997 in Brussels with a
time 26:27.85 minutes. The record was broken again by Gebrselassie in 1998 - 26:22.75.
He later moved up distance and in 2003 won the Berlin marathon in a new world record
time of 2:04:55.
