Brahim is pictured above (622) leading the field alongside Ezekiel Kemboi (557)
in the men's 3000m Steeplechase final at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki.
He came very close to winning his first medal at a major championship, agonisingly
missing out by two hundredths of a second to Kenya's Brimin Kipruto (561).
Saif Saaeed Shaheen (white vest, red shorts in 3rd place in the photo above)
won the gold and Kemboi the silver.

BRAHIM BOULAMI set two world records in the 3,000 meter steeplechase:
7:55.28 and 7:53.17. The latter was overturned because he tested positive
for the banned performance enhancing drug EPO. Boulami was banned for
two years in 2002 after the positive test.
In 2005 he won the Mediterranean Games steeplecahse title at Almería, Spain,
in 8:15.15 a Games record.
His older brother Khalid Boulami was an Olympic bronze medalist.
