Constantina Diţă (formerly Constantina Diţă-Tomescu) is here known as Constantina Tomescu.
The main photo above shows Constantina acknowledging the crowd as she
nears the finish line in the womens Marathon at the 2008 Olympic Games
in Beijing. Tomescu produced an excellent performance to win the gold
medal in a time of 2.26.44 and she can be seen crossing the line, arms
outstretched in celebration, in the inset picture. The race was ran in
very tough conditions, due to the extreme heat, making the 38 year old
Romanian's achievement all the more impressive. |
She also represented her country at the Olympics in 2000, 2004 (20th) and 2012 (86th).
