A very talented athlete Ekaterina was the European Junior 400m hurdles Champion
on 2003 (57.52) and 2005 (55.89).
She also won the World Junior Champion in 2004 (55.55 PB) before taking up the 800m.

The IAAF announced on 28th. July 2014, that Kostetskaya was sanctioned for doping
after her biological passport had showed anormaleties. The two-year ban ended
20th January 2015. Her results at the 2011 World Championship
(above) and the 2012 Olympic Games were erased from the record books.
Kostetskaya met Australian pole vaulter Steve Hooker at the Beijing Olympics
in 2008 and married him in 2012. She never competed after 2012.
