Inga ABITOVA - Russia - 2010 European 10,000m Championships.

In 2012 Abitova was given a two-year ban for breaking anti-doping regulations.

The reason given was an "abnormal haemoglobin profile in her biological passport".

Her competition results were be annulled, beginning 10 October 2009 and her suspension

began on 11 October 2012. She thus lost her "silver **" medal won at the 2010 European

Championships. (see below and photo above).

The main photo above shows Inga about to cross the finishing line to win the 10,000m gold at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg. Abitova's time of 30: 31.42 was a new PB and she can be seen in the inset picture looking somewhat stunned at what she had just achieved. In what was a high quality race, 19 of the first 20 athletes remarkably posted either a PB, a seasons best or a national record.
