Irina is pictured above leading Great Britain's Mara Yamauchi in the closing stages
of the women's Marathon at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Timofeyeva
finished in a creditable 7th place in a time of 2.27.31 with Yamauchi beating
her to 6th position by 2 seconds.
She was banned from the sport for two years, starting 6 September 2016,
due to abnormalities in her biological passport.
