Mariya LASITSKENE - Russia - Third World Championship high jump gold medal.

In a final of high drama Mariya Lasitskene retained her high jump title despite a

superb challenge from 18 year old Yaroslava Mahuchikh. The teenager from the

Ukraine set a new World Junior record of 2.04 metres but then retired from the contest

perhaps knowing she had given all she could.

Mariya then went on to fail at 2.08m three times. (her PB at the time being 2.06)
