Svetlana KLYUKA - Russia - Olympic Games & World Champiomships 800m finalist.

Svetlana is pictured above during the women's 800m heats at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Klyuka, who won the silver medal over 800m at the 2006 Europeans in Gothenburg, finished just outside the medals in 4th place in a time of 1.56.94.

Klyuka received a two-year ban from the sport for doping after her biological passport

showed abnormalities. The ban was set for the periods from February 2011 to 2013 and

all her performances from 15th. August 2009 up to that period were erased.

The photo above shows Svetlana (1606) battling for gold with her compatriot Olga Kotlyarova in the final of the womens 800m at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg. It was Kotlyarova who was to prevail, pipping Klyuka by 1 tenth of a second. It was the first medal that Svetlana had won at a major championship.
