The bronze medal winner two years earlier, Ali Kaya improved to second place
in the men's 2016 European 10,000 metres Championship at Amsterdam.
At the World Championships in Beijing 2015 he was one of only four athletes to reach
the final of both the 10,000m and the 5,000m. He finished 7th in 10000 and 9th in 5000.

The twenty year old, born in Kenya, was the European Junior Champion over this distance
(and 5,000 metres) in 2013, the same year he also won the European junior cross country championship.
