The pictures above show Adam during the final of the men's
Shot Put at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka. He won the silver
medal with a season's best effort of 21.61m, 43cm behind his compatriot
Reese Hoffa.
Remarkably it was Nelson's fifth **silver medal at the
Olympics/World Championships in just eight years.
At the previous World
Championships (2005), he went one better to win that elusive 'first' gold
medal at a major championship. (**He of course won the Olympic title in 2004 after the 'winner' was found to have taken drugslater exchanging his silver for a gold.)

The pictures above show Adam during the men's Shot Put final at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki.
Nelson finally struck gold at a major championship after remarkably winning silver **at four successive 'majors'
between 2000-04. His effort of 21.73m was a seasons best.
** His silver at the 2004 Olympic Games was later turned into Gold. Not by magic but a drugs disqualification.
