Al FEUERBACH - U.S.A. - Twice Olympic shot put finalist & World Record holder.

Allan "Al" Dean Feuerbach pictured at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal where he finished 4th in the shot put.

 

On May 5, 1973, he broke Randy Matson's seven-year-old world record in the shot put by throwing 21.82 meters (71' 7")

at the San Jose Invitational at San Jose State College. Just weeks later, competing in a different sport, olympic-style

weight lifting, he finished second in the heavyweight division at the U.S. weightlifting championships. 

 

He was a four time American champion in the shot put 1973-75 and 1978,  plus three times indoor champion

in 1971, 1975, and 1978.

He also won a British AAA Championship title in the shot put.
