| The race finish pictures above show the closing stages of the women's
100m Hurdles final at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Damu (third
from the left) finished in 4th place in a time of 12.65 sec, agonisingly
missing out on the bronze medal to Canada's Priscilla Lopes-Schliep
(two from left) by just 1 hundredth of a second. In what was an
incredibly tight finish for places 2-6, Australia's Sally McLellan (two
from right) won the silver in 12.64 (she was adjudged to be ahead of
Schliep despite clocking an identical time), whilst Delloreen
Ennis-London (four from right) was timed at 12.65 but deemed to be
behind Cherry. Brigitte Foster-Hylton (far left) was placed 6th, just a
hundredth of a second back in 12.66 secs. Dawn Harper of the USA (four
from left) comfortably won the gold in a time of 12.54 secs, although it
may well have all been different had Lolo Jones (three from right) not
clipped the penultimate hurdle when seemingly set for glory. The main
photo above shows Damu in full flow during the heats. |
