A contented Deena Kastor is pictured above after receiving her marathon
bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. The American, who was 8th
at the 30km mark, produced a late burst to overhaul the flagging
Ethiopian Elfenesh Alemu and move into the bronze medal position. It was
the first Marathon medal that the USA had won since Joan Benoit's
victory at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
