The photo above shows Gail Devers after she had crashed into the
first hurdle and fallen during the first round heats of the 100m Hurdles
at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. At 37 years of age it was surely
her last attempt to win an elusive Hurdles medal at the Olympics.
Despite the fact that the Hurdles was considered her stronger event Gail
could only manage fifth place at the 1992 games and fourth four years
later but at those very same Olympics she won the 100m Gold on both
occasions! She enjoyed considerably more Hurdles success at the Worlds
in her fabulous career, winning golds in 1993, '95 & '99 as well as
silvers in '91 and ten years later in 2001. For good measure Gail also
won the 100m gold in 1993. |
