Joe Kovacs started with 20.90 metres to Tomas Walsh's 22.90 metres.
Game over ? Not quite.
By the end Ryan Crouser had matched Tomas's opening throw.
But a certain Joe Kovacs with nothing over 22m to his name until his last throw
sent the ball 22.91m to win an amazing competition.
It was also the first competition in which four men threw beyond 22m and the
first major championships final with eight men throwing beyond 21m.
The three medallist all threw over 75 feet.
