The main photo above shows a delighted Michelle Perry celebrating
after winning the gold medal in the womens 100m Hurdles at the 2007
World Championships in Osaka. The sequence of race finish pictures show
the closing few metres of the final, with Michelle (lane 6) throwing
herself at the line to hold off the challenge of Canada's Perdita
Felicien (lane 4) and Jamaica's Delloreen Ennis-London (lane 3), who won
silver and bronze respectively. Perry's victory meant that she
successfully retained the title that she had won two years previously in
Helsinki. Michelle later commented: "It was amazing for the first 60
and a fight to the end. I came off the 10th hurdle and pressed to the
finish and pulled it out." |

FINAL WOMEN'S 100 m HURDLES 2005.
The sequence of pictures above show the closing few metres of the
women's 100m Hurdles final at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki.
Michelle (lane 3) can be seen powering towards the line to win the gold
in a time of 12.66 secs. Delloreen Ennis-London (far left) won the
silver medal and Brigitte Foster-Hylton (centre, in yellow) the bronze,
despite clocking identical times of 12.76. The athlete taking a tumble
is Perry's compatriot, the 2004 Olympic champion Joanna Hayes, who was
challenging for a medal before her unfortunate error. The inset picture
shows Michelle during the heats. Photographs George Herringshaw. © 11th. August 2005.
