The main photo above shows Sandra in full flow during the heats of
the womens 400m Hurdles at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki.
Glover qualified comfortably for the final, winning both her heat and
semi-final, then produced an excellent performance in the final to win
bronze in a new PB time of 53.32. The inset picture shows the closing
few metres of the final; Sandra is second from right just behind the
gold medal winner Yuliya Pechonkina. The silver medal winner, Lashinda
Demus, is out of shot. At the 2003 World Championships in Paris, Sandra
had won the silver medal in a time slightly slower than this bronze
medal winning performance. Success has come late in her athletics life
for Sandra - she was not far short of her 37th birthday at the time of
the 2005 World Championships!
