Joshua Cheptegei crosses the finish line to win the Olympic
10,000 metres title, in an Olympic record time of 26:43.14.
It was the first track event final of the 2024 Games and despite the apparent
closeness of the first four runners Cheptegel was in complete control
of the race.
He was second at the 2020 (2021) Tokyo Games, where he won the gold medal
in the men's 5,000 metres.
Cheptegei's victory in Paris was expected, after all he had won the last
three World Championship 10,000 metres and was the World record holder
since 2020 set in Valencia 26:11.00.
Add too that he was also the 5,000 metres World record holder: 12.35.36
set in Monoco also in 2020.
