Seventeen year old Yaroslava Mahuchikh set a world record and yet finished 2nd.
O.K., a world under 20 record, but it was almost enough to dislodge the 2015 &
2017 champion Mariya Lasitskene. Well not almost. The Champion had no failures up
to 2.04, whereas Yaroslava had six. But it was a remarkable competition with the
World U20 champion failing twice at 2.00m then clearing 2.02 first time and then
going over 2.04 on her third attempt; whereupon she stopped and retired.
2019 World Athletics Championships. Doha, Qatar.
Final women's high jump.
