Alan Knott is pictured above during his excellent knock of 59 in the 5th Test against Australia at Edgbaston, Birmingham

in August 1981 which helped England to a 131 run victory. Alan also excelled in the next Test at The Oval, scoring

36 and 70 not out, in what proved to be his final appearance for his country. The above statistics only show Knott's

latter day appearances against Australia - his earlier performances can be seen on the previous page. In total Alan

played 32 Tests against the men from down under, scoring 1682 runs at an average of 32.98 - virtually identical to

his overall average of 32.75. He also took 97 catches and made 8 stumpings against Australia.
