Ben STOKES - England - Ben Stokes becomes a LEGEND

Ben Stokes smashes the winning run (a four naturally !) to take England to victory in the 3rd. Test

of the 2019 Ashes against Australia. His unbeaten 135 contained 11 fours and 8 sixes.

Bowled out for 67 in their first innings.  England needed to score 359 in their second innings to win.

No team had ever reached such a total in a fourth Test inning to win a game.

Stokes won the game for England.

Captain Joe Root scored 77, Joe Denly 50 and Jonny Bairstow 36.     Jack Leach scored 1. NOT OUT . He is seen cleaning his glasses

in one of the images below. Jake's one run allowed Ben to take strike and make history.

Another Headlingley Test Hero from an earlier era. Ian Botham (and Chris Old) at rest in the players changing room after Botham's 149 not out,

to set up a finale on the last day.  Australia needing 130 to win but were dismissed for 111.   The final day's hero Bob Willis.   8 for 43 !!!

In 2019 George WAS there on THE BIG DAY. Ben Stokes was voted the BBC TV sports personality of 2019. Ian Botham won in 1981.
