England cricket captain David Gower is pictured above looking at his elegant best during his innings

of 61 in the 3rd Texaco Trophy One Day International versus Australia on 29th May 1989.

Despite England totalling an impressive 278-7 from their 55 overs Australia recorded a 6 wicket

victory to tie the series 1-1. The figures above show only David's latter day appearances against Australia

- his earlier performances can be seen on the previous page. In total he scored 3269 runs in

42 matches at an average of 44.78 - virtually identical to his overall average of 44.25.
