Following his retirement in 1998 Steve Wegerle worked in US media, presenting 'soccer' programmes

that included a brief stint on ESPN2’s ‘MLS Extratime’.   Not long afterwards he took up a career as a

professional golfer.   Wegerle won a place in the Alfred Dunhill Championship in 2002 after

qualifying for the European Tour event, however he did finish in last place.
