Creative midfielder Colin Viljoen won two England caps in 1975 under Don Revie after several strong seasons in an emerging Ipswich Town team (he is pictured above playing for the East Anglian club in the year of his England call-up). Viljoen, a clever footballer with an eye for a pass and a decent shot, was of South African origin but there was little question of his roots when he was picked for the Home International games against Wales and Northern Ireland. He played the full 90 minutes in both matches, which ended in draws, but didn't feature in the 5-1 drubbing of Scotland which followed. A period in and out of the Ipswich side meant he was never deemed to be on the sort of form which would prompt a recall. (Matthew Rudd)
