Local lad Noel Whelan joined Leeds as a Youth Trainee, signing professionally in March 1993.
Despite some impressive performances he struggled to claim a starting place week in week out
at United and moved on to Coventry City in December 1995, the Midlanders paying £2 million for
the services of the talented striker.
Noel is pictured above during the 3-1 defeat against Manchester Utd. in the 5th round of the F.A. Cup.
