German international Christian Ziege moved to Anfield in the summer of 2000 after
an impressive first season in English football with Middlesbrough. Ziege cost the
Merseysiders £5.5m but he failed to shine at Anfield, not helped by the fact that
Liverpool played a flat back four whilst the German had always played his best
football as a wing back. It was no surprise when he moved on to Tottenham
after just one season with the Reds, the Londoners paying £4 million for his services.
Christian is pictured above during the 4-0 win against Derby County on 15/10/2000.
