Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is pictured above during his 500th. Premier League appearance for his Club.
The game at The Hawthorns, against West Bromwich
Albion, finished goalless. He became only the second Liverpool
player to
pass the figure following Jamie Carragher, who made 508 appearances.
However, Stevie had by then scored
118 goals to Jamie's three.
He passed his 35th birthday the following month in a career that was spent entirely at Anfield.
In
2005 Steven was honoured as the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year and
won the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. He was
named in the PFA Team of the
Year a record eight times, the UEFA Team of the Year and FIFA World XI
three times
and was named PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2006 and
the FWA Footballer of the Year in 2009.
At he end of his Liverpool
career he was the only footballer ever to have scored a
goal in an FA
Cup Final, a League Cup Final,
a UEFA Cup Final and a
Champions League
Final. He also played for England 114 times (the sixth
player to achieve that
distinction) and scored 21 goals for his country.
Steven played 710 games for Liverpool and scored 186
goals. He scored 40 European goals and won 10 trophies
for the club. He
captained the Cub 473 times (56 more than second-placed Ron Yates)
