On 14 May 2009, Ingesson disclosed that he had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma.
On 8 January 2013, Ingesson revealed that myeloma had returned and that he
would have a stem cell transplant, as the two previous autologous (i.e. of his own stem cells)
had been unsuccessful.
On 29 October 2014, Ingesson died of multiple myeloma.
