Sergey Gotsmanov joined The Saints in August 1990 for £150,000
from Brighton & Hove Albion. He struggled to oust Alan Shearer,
Matt Le Tissier and Rod Wallace from the starting line-up. In his
season with the Southampton he only made 14 appearances in all
competitions and failed to score.
He is pictured above playing in a 1-1 away draw with Coventry City
in the F.A. Cup. Saints won the replay 2-0.

Following the break-up of the Soviet Union, he made three appearances
for Belarus, scoring the first ever official goal in the history of the national team
