David Hodgson arrived at Roker Park from Liverpool for a fee of £125,000 in August 1984,
after struggling to make the grade at Anfield following his £450,000 move from Middlesbrough
in August 1982. He played a total of 40 league games, scoring five goals, during his time at
Sunderland before a free transfer move to Norwich City in the summer of 1986.
He is pictured above during the 1-0 defeat against Norwich City in the Milk Cup Final.
