A veteran of 77 appearances for his country, big Terry Butcher arrived at Roker Park on a free transfer in August 1992
. Malcolm Crosby had signed Terry but he was soon on his way out of the manager's job and it was the
Singapore-born Butcher who stepped into the hot seat. Terry did not enjoy a particularly successful spell in
charge and after a run of five defeats he was sacked in November 1993.
He is pictured above during the 1-0 defeat against Newcastle United on 25th April 1993.
