Matthew Rush enrolled on a sports science course at the UEL, graduated with a degree in Sports Development
and took up a post at a sports college in Manchester in 2001. While studying, he played football for non-league
teams Dulwich Hamlet and Dagenham & Redbridge and joined Droylsden in May 2002 as he wished to carry
on playing on a part-time basis while working.
