David Unsworth is pictured above during the match against Chelsea. Unsworth scored the only goal of his Wigan career and
undoubtedly the most important goal in the history of Wigan Athletic
F.C. on the final day of the 2006/07 season.
His coolly taken penalty
gave the Latics a 2-1 win at Sheffield United, thus ensuring their place
in the Premiership on goal difference. Sadly there is no room for
sentiment in football though and that would prove to be David's last
appearance in a Wigan shirt as he was promptly released just days later !
